Itinerary

Day 01 :
Marrakech to Dades Valley

Your 4-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert begins when your driver picks you up at your hotel. We recommend starting the tour at 8 a.m. to ensure there is enough time for the stops.

You’ll drive across the High Atlas Mountains, past hundreds of Berber villages. We will ensure that we stop and provide you with enough time to enjoy the scenery and snap photos. After a few hours’ drive from Marrakech, we will stop at the top of the Tizi N’Tichka. Tizi N’Tichka is a mountain pass that rises to 2,212 meters (7,257 feet) above sea level. It provides stunning views of the nearby mountains.

Then there’s the incredible Ait Ben-Haddou! One of Morocco’s most spectacular kasbahs. After lunch, you will stroll through the ksar of Ait Ben-Haddou towards Ait Ben-Haddou. The ksar is a fortified settlement of Berber origin, with many kasbahs inside. Ait Ben-Haddou is important. It served as a key stop for traders going from Marrakech to the desert. For a thousand years, caravans carried gold, silver, and spices. They traveled the trans-Saharan trade routes. These routes connected Morocco, Mali, Ghana, Niger, and Sudan.

Another point to mention is that many Hollywood films have used the Ksar as their backdrop. Ait Ben Haddou Ksar is part of movie history. It has been both a backdrop and a character in many famous Hollywood films. As you walk through the alleys of Ait Benhaddou, the unique architecture will amaze you. You’re also walking in the footsteps of famous Hollywood actors!

Continue the 4-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert. Then, head to Ouarzazate. In Ouarzazate, you can stop to visit the Atlas Film Studios. Finally, you will go to your hotel in Boumalne Dades.

Day 02 :
Dades Valley to Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we would drive deep into the Dades Valley. Before you reach the Atlas foothills, enjoy the beautiful orchards in the valley. Stop in Tamlalt to see the unique rocky outcrops known as monkey fingers.

After one hour's drive, you will reach the Todgha Gorges. The Todgha Gorges are deep canyons formed by fast rivers. They flow down to the coastal plains on the eastern side of the range. The gorges provide some incredible hiking and photographic opportunities.

After lunch, your private 4-day tour will head to the Merzouga Desert. Head straight for the main reason you booked this tour: the Merzouga Desert. When you see the stunning golden dunes, you’ll forget all about the long drives.

Meet the camel’s guide and get ready for a fabulous adventure. You will ride the camels for roughly an hour across the magnificent Erg Chebbi. Erg Chebbi, often known as the “Sea of Dunes,” is a part of the Sahara Desert in Morocco’s southeast. Erg Chebbi is the best site in the country due to its enormous dunes that can reach a height of 150 meters. You can never complete a trip to Morocco without visiting the Merzouga Desert. Your guide will stop before you reach the campsite to watch the sunset. Spend the night in a lovely camp on the edge of the Sahara Desert, complete with a nomadic atmosphere.

Day 03 :
Explore the Merzouga Desert

Early wake-up to see the sun rising over the dunes with nothing in its way. It is magic. Do not worry; today, we are not going anywhere else. You will have a full day to explore the Sahara Desert.

Your driver will take you to enjoy the Gnawa music and learn about their history. For decades, Black Africans from the Gnawa tribe, living in Sudan, Mali, and Niger, have had to move. The global slave trade took them across the Sahara to Morocco. As they walked through the desert in chains, they sang to calm themselves. The rhythmic chanting and the clanking of shackles brought them to awareness. You will also visit the local nomadic families to learn about their way of life. The nomadic families will be more than happy to host you with a cup of tea.

The highlight of the day will be driving off-road through the sand dunes. Driving 4WD in the desert provides a sensation that you should not miss. By the late afternoon, you will ride back to your hotel. Enjoy the swimming pool, climb the dunes near your hotel, or rent a Quad bike. Overnight stay in Merzouga.

Day 04 :
Merzouga Desert to Marrakech

After breakfast in the morning, you will jump back into the car to start your journey back to Marrakech. We’ll take an alternative route through Rissani, Nkob, Agdz, and the Draa Valley. Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate. Then, continue to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.

Your driver will return you to your accommodation or drop you off at the airport. Our private 4-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga Desert ends here.
