Itinerary
Driving from Fes to the Sahara Desert takes about 7 hours. The route features breathtaking views and snow-capped mountains. Your tour guide will meet you near your accommodation early in the morning. Then, you'll begin the best 4-day tour from Fes to Marrakech via the Merzouga Desert! You can ask your tour guide to stop whenever you need.
On the first day, we will stop many times and see a lot. The national park of Ifran will be our first stop. The city itself is fascinating and stands out from the other Moroccan cities. They named it the Switzerland of Africa. Head to the Cedar Forest in Azrou to see, feed, and play with the Barbary monkeys. You will love the experience of seeing those lovely monkeys without a doubt.
Midday stops break for lunch in Midelt City. We were now halfway between Fes and the Sahara Desert. After lunch, you’ll head straight to the main event of your 4-day guided trip: the Erg Chebbi Desert. You'll also take a quick photo stop in Ziz Valley.
Once you arrive in Merzouga, you will change the car for a camel. Ride the camels across the fabulous orange dunes and watch the most beautiful sunset. The sunset view from the high golden dunes is something out of reality. Spend an unforgettable night at the deep Sahara Desert campsite.
The first thing your eyes will see today is a memorable sunrise showing up from the middle of the golden dunes. You’ll enjoy stunning views and get to try sandboarding, too. Afterward, you’ll eat breakfast. Then, shower, and pack your bags. Finally, ride your camels back to the Merzouga meeting point.
On today’s excursion, we will head to explore the hidden gems of the Sahara Desert. Visit the Secret Oasis and marvel at the peculiar landscape. Now you see why we added a 2-day stay in Merzouga to our private 4-day tour from Fes to Marrakech Desert. The desert of Morocco deserves more than a single day. You could never be able to see all that the desert has to offer in a single day.
We first drive to enjoy the Gnawa traditional music and see their lifestyle. Move to see the old mines of the Sahara Desert. Visit the nomadic families. Meet the members, learn about their Bedouin lifestyle, and share traditions. Enjoy a tasty cup of mint tea, too. By the afternoon, you’ll begin your off-road tour through the dunes. After touring all the Erg Chebbi dunes, you'll drive back to a beautiful riad with a swimming pool.
One hour before sunset, a guide will bring you the quads. Take the quads to see the desert in a new way. Enjoy the sunset from one of the tallest dunes.
On the third day, you will leave the desert for Boumalne Dades. Boumalne Valley sits between the Merzouga Desert and Marrakech. It’s a perfect place to pause during the long drive to Marrakech.
Rissani is on our road, so we should visit this charming town. Stop by the local souk and the donkey park for a quick look. Continue the drive to see the Berber irrigation system. This will amaze you when you see it.
The next stop will be the Todra Gorges in Tinghir. Todra Gorge is a magnificent gorge with high red rocks on all sides. You’ll park the car and walk through the canyons to see everything in detail. Take a lunch break and then continue to the Valley of Dades. Drive to see the snaky road (Tisdrine). By the late afternoon, we will head to spend the night.
Today is the second-to-last day of your 4-day guided tour from Fes to Marrakech. There’s still a lot to explore! The road to Marrakech has many unique sights. Visit the Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah. Explore charming Berber villages. Enjoy the High Atlas Mountains, and more.
After breakfast, you’ll drive to one of the top sights on our private 4-day tour from Fes to Merzouga: Ait Ben Haddou. The kasbah is a must-see for anyone interested in the area's history and culture. This UNESCO World Heritage site is famous for its mud-brick buildings. It is one of the best-preserved ksars. Additionally, it could be the shooting location for one of your best-loved movies. Your tour guide will lead you through the many kasbahs until you reach the top of the ksar. Take your time to wander through the old streets and mud buildings.
Drive to Marrakech around noon. Enjoy the stunning nature along the way. Drive through a series of hairpin bends to reach the Tizi N’Tichka pass’s 2,260 m peak. The views from the top of the Tizi N’Tichka will blow your mind. Make a few stops to see the Berber villages, then drive straight to Marrakech. The guide will drop you off at the location you choose. Our private 4-day tour from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga desert ends here.
